Mingzhe Chen and Walid Saad Win the 2023 IEEE Communications Society Katherine Johnson Young Author Best Paper Award

Congratulations to ECE Alumnus Mingzhe Chen and Walid Saad for winning the 2023 IEEE Communications Society Katherine Johnson Young Author Best Paper Award for their work "Energy Efficient Federated Learning Over Wireless Communication Networks".

This paper was among the first to explore the energy efficiency challenges of federated learning when deployed over real-world wireless networks. Moreover, it is the third Young Author Award received by the NEWS group since 2019.  

This year the awards program will be presented at IEEE ICC 2023 in Rome, Italy. The ceremony will be held on Monday, 29 May, at 12:45 pm in Forum, Cloud Convention Center.
